I finally got to see my sister again on Sunday, after nearly 10 long months!
Honestly, I was so excited… it felt like I was going on holiday!
So, as you can imagine, it was a BIG occasion.
Actually, it was a BIG BIG occasion.
BIG….seeing her again.
And BIG…. that my little sister turned 40!
Wow!
And it’s a ‘milestone’ birthday, which makes it all the more special right?
It’s a double whammy to be celebrated with family.
And celebrate we did….on possibly the hottest day of the year!
12 of us gathered in our parents’ garden – young cousins playing again, a cooling paddling pool, lots of laughing, a tasty BBQ, excited chatter and, of course, yet another new favourite on my delicious cake list!
Everyone was happily together again, 😊 to 😊.
But such gatherings can be stressful, can’t they?
Can you do a BBQ for a mix of committed vegetarians and stalwart meat eaters?
Should Grandad be left to struggle at the helm of the BBQ yet again?
Yes. Yes. And No!
So we all pitched in to do our bit.
Dad’s two son-in-laws were great head chefs on two separate BBQs – “veggies to the right, carnivores to the left please”!
My sister and I caught up during our side salad and drinks duties.
By sharing the tasks out, we all relaxed together and enjoyed a really wonderful family day.
Together.
And isn’t that a good way to handle most things?
Why not share out the tasks? Why not match the people to the tasks?
We do it ourselves in our business with things that we realise others can do better!
We’re discovering it’s giving us more time to focus on the aspects of our business that really are our ‘thing’. And our ‘thing’ is design, print and signage.
