Lockdown, shmockdown!

Last weekend both myself and Mat should have been away for the weekend.

We’d planned a little pre-Christmas getaway to Stratford-upon-Avon, but unfortunately that’s been scuppered.

So instead we put the Christmas decos up.

Not sure if you’ve ever tried putting Christmas decos up with 4 kids, but it didn’t get me into the Christmas spirit quite as being in Stratford would have.

Sitting down, having a little drink, a nice bite to eat, no questions, no bickering…..

Oh sorry, started to day dream a little there.

Back to putting the decos up with the kids.

Jeeze it was tricky.

“Can I put this here mommy”

“Can I hang this here daddy”

“But Layla has more tinsel than me, it’s sooooo unfair”

You get the picture don’t you?

But we’re not one of those families who would enter our house and tree in competitions.

As its more of a National Lampoons kinda stylee.

We’ve got all sorts.

Kids home-made stuff from playschool, stuff me and Mat have collected from our travels, my spectacular (even if I do say so myself) Mickey Mouse bauble decoration, lights galore (and no, none of them match), teddies with one eye, ornaments with wonky feet and so non.

I’m sure it plays on Mat’s OCD, I know he would love to get rid of the dodgy decorations and have all the lights the same, but nar, not going to happen, not on my watch.

But now it’s done and it feels very homely, which is how it should be in my book.

It was all a bit last minute though.

As you well know we’ve been decorating and DIY’ing for the past 3 weeks, all building up to going away, then WHAM!

So, we changed our plans and put the decorations up a week early instead, and yes it did literally take all weekend.

But I’m an expert in this, I have to be with 4 kids.

I’m an expert in adapting and making sure stuff gets done.

This is one of the things that sets us aside as a business, especially in the current climate.

We’re always willing to adapt, always able to cope with a curveball and that’s why our service is second to none.

What Does ‘Local’ Mean?

Buy local. Support local. Two phrases that we hear day in, day out. But what exactly does ‘local’ mean? In a relatively small country (you can fit the UK into Australia 32 times, and into the state of Texas 2.8 times), the word local may seem overly provincial to some...
