What is branding?

It’s all about the logo, isn’t it?

Well it is, but it’s not.

Branding means a whole heap of different things.

It is your identity it’s about who you are and what you do.  The image that you portray in front of everybody, in front of your customers, in front of your suppliers, the personality that you bring to your business, and also the experience.

Think about your premises, how do they look? How do they feel? Is your signage up to date?

Vehicle graphics – everybody’s got vehicles, have your vehicles got graphics, phone numbers and websites on them? Are they advertising your business? If they are being driven around all day, every day, by different people, maybe they need to.

Clothing – have your staff got branded uniforms? Do they all look part of the same family?

Marketing collateral – brochures, leaflets, business cards.  Are your brochures and the leaflets that you are leaving with your clients up to date, are they fresh, do they clearly say what products and services that you provide?

Business cards – if you are going into a meeting, if you are handing somebody a business card, does it portray your business, and who you are and what you do?

All these things are an integral part of your branding.

As business owners it’s essential that you look after this kind of thing.

 One of the worst things that could happen is you use multiple suppliers for multiple products, which can be an absolute nightmare, you may end up with substandard services, dodgy products, colours that are wrong, logos that are changed, materials that are not fit for purpose.
